James was a friend, a wonderful, caring, friendly and kind family man. I will cherish the memories I have, from travelling to Northern Ireland with my family to stay with his, when he was the Secretary of State, to suppers chez Brokenshire with the children running wild when youngsters. James was always welcoming and had time for everyone, a great friend. He was a caring, doting father and a wonderful husband to Cathy. I can’t believe he has gone, a huge hole has been created.
