Just heard Cathy on Broadcasting House. I’m also looking at an empty champagne bottle now with the message “All my love for as long as I’ve got” hanging round the neck. It is from Pip, my soulmate of 18 years, who I lost to lung cancer just coming up to 1 year ago.
James was a highly respected man. I remember seeing him presenting at the ACPO cyber crime conference back at in 2012, in the run up to London2012. In the evening, he also made time to mix, listen and discuss with those officers and security practitioners at the conference (whereas some politicians tend to present and leave). An extremely grounded, high integrity and respected government minister/SoS and a great loss. My deepest sympathies to his family.
Not, how did he die, but how did he live? Not, what did he gain, but what did he give? These are the units to measure the worth Of a man as a man, regardless of his birth. Nor what was his church, nor what was his creed? But had he befriended those really in need? Was he ever ready, with words of good cheer, To bring back a smile, to banish a tear? Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say, But how many were sorry when he passed away?
Thinking of you today James and gutted to be missing the memorial today having had a positive test this morning. Wouldn’t it be great if we could meet the £100k mark? Rest well. Gone from this earth, but never forgotten, and always loved. Ps Cathy is doing you proud - although I know that’s no surprise to you x
